SPIKE!'s Story...

This insanely handsome 8 year old Bulldog/Boxer mix is named Spike! Spike was surrendered to City of Elderly Love after his family ran into hard times and out of options. While heartbroken for them, we were happy to step up and help Spike find the perfect forever home!

Besides his stunning good looks, Spike also has the personality to back it up! Spike LOVES meeting new people of all shapes, sizes and ages. After everyone is done gasping "awwww", he loves to wiggle his way up to them to pets and butt rubs! Spike has lived with children in his previous home and was great with them! Spike has also lived with other dogs in the past and prefers to spend time with other lower-key dogs like himself. He'd love a canine buddy to lay around on the couch with or a stroll around the block! Spike would likely do best in a home without cats, as he's a little too interested and he may stress them out. Spike is mild-mannered, walks great on the leash, and is housebroken! He is the definition of a family dog and is missing just one thing - a forever family!

Spike is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love. He is up-to-date on his vaccinations, neutered and microchipped. Interested in meeting him? Visit to complete an online adoption questionnaire or email us at!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

SPIKE!, a Philadelphia Bulldog/Boxer dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Bulldog/Boxer for sale in Philadelphia, or seeking a Bulldog/Boxer dog from a breeder in Philadelphia.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Philadelphia already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Philadelphia breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Bulldog/Boxer breeders who help with Bulldog/Boxer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Philadelphia paves the way for another one to be saved.
