My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi the Folks! This is Daphne and I’m excited to tell you how much my life is already improving in 2015. I’m not going to lie, life was rough in 2014 but started improving on January 9th. This was the date that Indianapolis Animal & Control confiscated me due to animal cruelty (aka - I was being used as a bait dog). The people there were really nice, but life got DRASTICALLY better when I was picked by Helping Paws on January 18th. I got something called “foster parents” and let me tell you, “WOW”. I had a warm home, warm bed, lots of food, toys and love.

I had to make a trip to Chicago for several surgeries, which did stink. You see, when the Helping Paws people picked me up, I had a torn ACL, luxating patella, torn dew claw, chunks of skin missing, scars everywhere, and extremely emaciated. I told you, I was in rough shape. My foster parents put 7 lbs on me in 4 days and I now weigh 42 lbs. They took care of that and all my boo-boos but I had to go to Chicago for all those surgeries. As soon as I was done, I went right back to my foster mom’s arms. She said I was amazing because I hold no grudges. I’m not sure what the word “grudge” means but she says something about kissing everyone & everything, not being scared of the 2 very big dogs I currently live with, nice to all the dogs in the neighborhood and wiggling my butt at the sight of every person walking in our home.

Foster Mom also says I’m the most adorable pit bull in the world but I think she may be biased. Right now, I’m loving the life ….. however, finding my forever home would be AMAZING. Here are some ideas for my future family: • LOVE ME to the end of the earth - I think I deserve it! • Someone Strong- I may be a small pit bull at 42 lbs, but there’s a lot of muscle in this small package! • Willing to work with me on commands - I haven’t had a chance to learn any yet because of all my surgeries. • I play great with other animals. I get along with my current foster siblings which includes a Newfoundland dog, a red bone coon hound dog, and 3 cats. What can I say, I’m an equal opportunist lover! • I’ve only met a few kids, but liked them. Potential future families with kids must understand they will need to work on my manners a little bit as I might push the kids over by accident. I get so excited when I see nice people now that I can’t control myself! I’m approximately 18 months so I’m young! I can be taught and will probably calm down! • You must buy me toys. What can I say, I love them now and can’t do without them! So, whose willing to come meet me??? I promise my personality will win you over. I will show you the true side of this bully breed…..a cuddle monster! My adoption fee is $275.000. I will be spayed, vaccinated, and micro chipped before I go to my forever home.
