My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Brock would be such a perfect companion for anyone who is searching for that loyal and loving lap dog. At about 9 - 18 months old (several opinions have been in that age range) and just about 12 lbs, Brock is a very portable HavaWestie that can be a full-time best friend...accompanying his guardians everywhere a small and wonderful dog is allowed. It's always amazing to us at Farfel's Rescue that these dogs with sweet temperaments...as well as so very cute...end up in precarious situations. Brock was a last-minute save for us...he would have been euthanized in a dismal high-kill shelter if our kind Kansas rescuer hadn't stepped up. But how could they not have? This little dog is just so awesome with his whole life lying in front of him...a life in which he can bring so much joy to a special family. Brock, as a young guy, is a blank slate waiting to learn about the world. With positive guidance, socialization and group obedience classes, Brock will become a well-behaved and very bonded companion. He is an all-time snuggler and will cuddle his way into any heart! Brock may be a bit shy initially as transport and rehoming is challenging for a young guy...but with love and nurturing, he will absolutely shine We envision Brock with a retired couple or individual...he would be overjoyed with the time he could spend in their company. It's not that Brock is incredibly needy ..he just loves the companionship of his humans who respect him for all his wonderful traits. Brock has successfully been around older kids (12 and 15) but is untested with very young children. We therefore would prefer to keep Brock with older, dog-loving kids who are gentle and understanding that Brock only weighs 12 lbs and needs soft and kind handling. For those family members who enjoy walks and time outside in the beautiful Colorado sunshine..Brock would love nothing more than to share the experience. He is always up for a walk..fascinated by the activity around him. He breathes in the air...so happy to be free of the dismal shelter environment. Then...maybe his favorite part...it's time to end the day with hugs, belly rubs and a warm spot on the bed beside his favorite people. Brock appears to be a non-shedding (or maybe a hair or 2 - we can't quite tell until his poor-nutrition shelter hair grows out) guy and will therefore will require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat cotton-soft and matt-free. We've requested that Brock be neutered and groomed in Kansas. This often doesn't occur due to too many dogs and too few vets and groomers in rural Kansas. If Brock arrives unfixed and matted, Farfel's is happy to cover the costs of neutering/microchipping and grooming if our Denver vet and groomer is used. Brock will be arriving on transport in Denver on Thursday 4/2/15.
