Farfel's Rescue was notified by a compassionate rescuer in Texas that a strikingly beautiful, and sweet as can be, Maltese/Poodle mix was scheduled for euthanasia in just a few days. The rescuer spoke of this 3 - 3.5 year old (perfect age for a dog..old enough to have left puppyish behavior behind and young enough to have many active years left), 11 lb pup as a gift of pure love. She saw Bentley as a wonderful and kind companion for a family with older kids - she was concerned that very young children would intimidate Bentley if they treated him roughly. She also described him as a great friend to gentle canines...he would enjoy the playing, long walks together and hanging out at day's end. We took a look at Bentley's lovely eyes staring out of the shelter photo (they spoke of difficult times)... and heard the reports of Bentley's carefully wagging tail that spoke of a huge desire to trust and bond for life. We accepted Bentley immediately into our rescue. He was removed from the shelter, vetted (perfectly healthy), temperament-tested (passed with flying colors) and brought to a nurturing family who will reinforce Bentley's house skills and socialization while he waits for his transport to a new life in Colorado. We've committed to finding Bentley a committed and super-loving family who will enjoy him for his devotion, sweetness and strong desire to please. Once Bentley becomes comfortable in his surroundings, he is a friend that will make you laugh at his silly antics and want to hold him tight just because he's so incredibly cute!
We would love to see Bentley in a home where he becomes a true member of the family. Retirees or individuals who work out of the house would be perfect for this sweet young guy. Bentley tends to be a calm pup at this point who loves nothing more than to settle into his person's lap and stay put with an occasional lick and a wiggle of delight at his good fortune. He would love long walks outdoors in the sunshine and is portable enough to bring along on every dog-friendly adventure.
Bentley appears to be a non-shedding pup (we know that under the listless shelter hair..there's a gorgeous coat just waiting to grow). He will therefore require periodic baths/grooming and great nutrition to keep his beautiful coat silky and matt-free.
