Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Chowder is a rare orange tabby female who had a rough start to her life. She was brought into a shelter as a tiny kitten, all alone, and was very frightened. Because of that she gave a fatal kitten hiss and was placed on the kill list. We couldn't stand the thought of that so we had her brought into our rescue. Then the second blow hit, she tested positive for Feline Leukemia. We were faced with two choices - send her to a sanctuary for cats with Leukemia or see if her immune system could beat the disease. We decided to she if she could overcome it and she went to a long term foster home where she had to be isolated from the other cats. She was a bit lonely but her foster family interacted with her as often as they could. She did not have an opportunity to play with the other kittens, only with people. as a result she is very comfortable with people but just beginning to feel at ease with other kittens, and so can be shy, but is very curious about other kittens and loves to watch them. She does have a buddy (Orion) also listed on this page. Chowder was given an immune booster and kept stress to a minimum so her immune system could work. Three months later, she was retested and no Leukemia! She is one of the 20% who beat the disease! Chowder is a little doll. She is very unsure of herself so needs an adopter with patience - but that adopter will be greatly rewarded. She is a loyal little soul and when she trusts you she ADORES you. Chowder deserves a chance now. She beat a horrible disease. Please offer her the gift of a loving home for her to live a long life in.
