Dillon is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a soft kiss. What isn't clear in this shelter photo is how truly beautiful this dog is with the golden and beige streaks that run through his beautiful coat. Once Dillon gets a sudsy bath and his first haircut, he will absolutely be one of the cutest guys around. At 9 - 12 months old and 10 lbs, Dillon is a perfect weight to accompany his family just about anywhere a sweet small dog is welcome... while being large enough to be a great hiker or power walker.
Dillon, being a sensitive pup, was very frightened in a Kansas high-kill shelter. Yet when you hug him tightly, he responds with a gentle kiss and look of love. We look forward to Dillon finding a nurturing forever family so he never has to be frightened again.
Dillon is every bit the young guy...fun and active. But at the same time he is a gentle, well-behaved pup. At this early point in Dillon's development, he loves almost everyone..be it human or canine. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Dillon to a family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. We'd like Dillon to attend positive reinforcement group obedience group classes to be the very best adult dog he's capable of being. We also feel that Dillon would be most comfortable with an adult or retired family.. or one with older kids 12+ where voices are softer and the energy is calmer.
Right now, Dillon is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved and most cuddly guy around. Dillon becomes so loyal once comfortable that he can easily be a constant companion - he would love nothing more than leisurely walks, trips to the store (he's a great window-shopping friend), lap-sitting or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace. Dillon is flexible enough that he can be introduced to virtually any situation...and if there is love and gentle guidance...he can succeed.
Dillon appears to be a non-shedding or lightly-shedding guy with a beautiful coat that speaks of both breeds in his mix. He will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition (a supplement of salmon oil would be great) to keep his golden coat healthy and matt-free.
Dillon is being fostered in the Denver area. Applications are being accepted and Meet and Greets are currently being set up for our sweet pup.
