Melanie was in a very scary situation...she and two others lost their owner and each other. They were transferred to a high-kill rural TX shelter about to face euthanasia. Upon hearing of the plight of these beautiful dogs, our compassionate Texas rescuers put their story out to the rescue community. Farfel's made the decision to help with Melanie..she sweet, adorable and deserving of great life!
Melanie is an 11 year old Terrier mix who came to us when her owner passed away and left nobody to care for her or her housemates. This girl is great with other dogs. She would, however, really enjoy an all-adult home that is quiet and free from the chaos of young children. Melanie is definitely accustomed to being an inside only dog and cannot stand a long time in the heat and stifling humidity of an Texas summer. Melanie is a truly sweet and wonderful dog who would be a gift to an individual or couple searching for a mellow and extremely loving little dog.
We picture Melanie as the best friend to retirees. She'd be so loyal.. and overjoyed to share her love and good will. Once comfortable, she loves to engage and just be her entertaining, adorable self. Even though Melanie is usually up for pretty much any activity, she's not pushy or yappy. Exercise..perhaps a walk in the sunshine to socialize with neighbors, and mental stimulation that comes from her time with her humans.. is important to this girl to keep her happy and well-behaved. it's not that she requires extensive amounts, just enough to keep her healthy and stimulated.
Melanie derives so much joy from her relationships, we would love to see her in a family that often stays at home..or chooses to bring along a sweet and kind fuzzy family member. Melanie is a great dog who deserves this love and consistency in his life
