My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Meet Mitchell!  This laid back, gorgeous love bug is around 3-4 years old.  He is an impressive, solid 105 pounds!

Mitchell is loving and affectionate with his people.  He really relishes their attention.  Initially he is polite yet reserved with strangers; he assesses them before letting them into his inner circle.  Once he accepts you, he’s all yours!

He’ll ask for affection by nudging his head under your arm and burying his nose in your tummy as you pet him!  When you come home from work or an errand, he happily leaps, bows, and plays in celebration!

He prefers adults over children.  Any kids in the house should be over ten years old, because younger ones bring too much excitement for his taste, and he can easily knock over small kids.

Mitch is a very confident, alpha boy with a strong personality.   He always wears his tail high and proud in a tight, fluffy curl.  His forever human needs to be a confident, strong, benevolent leader who will spoil him like crazy!   In return, he will lavish his human with abundant adoration.

He is not one you’ll want to take to pet stores or dog parks.  His instinct to protect you is ultra high, and he doesn’t look on other dogs favorably in that environment.

Mr. Marvelous is a complete, reserved gentleman on his walks.  He loves donning his harness for the event, and will roll on his side for you to put it on him.  He is sometimes a brisk walker and sometimes enjoys an easy stroll.    All the while, he looks to you for guidance and approval.  He walks like a dream on leash – no pulling, ignores barking dogs, ignores goats, piglets, horses, and frogs!   He loves walking a mile, twice a day.

He could be happy as your one and only canine, or he can live in harmony with one or two other canines.  If he lives with a doggy companion, she needs to be a confident, healthy female of substantial size.  He does not tolerate other male dogs in his home, and he doesn’t care for younger dogs or anything too bouncy and jittery.

He ignores cats in the house.  If there is a feline in his forever home, he does best with adults in keeping with his preference for calm, non-excitable creatures.

Mitchell has superb house manners.  He is house trained, pet door trained, and leash trained.  He has no need to be in a crate, and he strongly objects to being confined in such a way.  While dogs are allowed on the furniture in his foster home, he chooses not to partake in that luxury.  Such politeness!

He is a good guardian and will bark to let you know if he suspects that anything is amiss!  He doesn’t show any interest in jumping over the 4-5 foot fence at his foster home.

He loves going on car trips!  He is absolute perfection in the car, riding calmly, quietly, contentedly.  He puts his head on the console so you can pet him.

He is especially partial to soft-serve ice cream and loves going for a Sonic Blast with Butterfinger or a DQ Blizzard!  If you want to spoil him further, he’ll take some cheese and hard-boiled eggs, please.

Mitchell is available for adoption exclusively in the Dallas/Fort Worth area or to someone willing to drive to the area to get him.

SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.  Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention.  Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
