Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Whenever a sweet and engaging Schnauzer (mixed with Yorkie is a huge plus) gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of this breed mix are loving, smart and make great family companions. They fit so well into a household and become a very devoted best friend to their family.
Sometimes rescue dogs are initially a bit shy....but put them into a home with a loving family that provides frequent socialization, nurturing, love and belly rubs.. and they will shine. Katie is one of these pups...she's a blank slate that's just waiting for the commitment of a great family. Her love will know no bounds as she becomes a best friend and the greatest lap dog ever.
Katie is such a great age and size... at 12 - 18 months old (such a great age - young enough to be open to new and wonderful possibilities in her life yet old enough to have left her babyish behavior behind) and weighs 9 lbs (perfect size to accompany her people anywhere a sweet and well-behaved pup is welcome).
Katie is lucky enough to have inherited the intelligence of the Schnauzer breed along with the curiosity of the fun-loving Yorkshire Terrier. She is so excited and attentive when her people teach her the wonders of her world. If Katie is trained (group classes with a positive reinforcement trainer would be great!) given tons of love, socialization with humans and other dogs...she will grow into a self-confident girl who will be a wonderful companion. Katie has all the elements working in her favor since she's starting out with a great temperament, a love of life and a puppyish desire to please.
We'd like to place Katie in a home with either active retirees or a younger family who loves spending lots of time with a fuzzy and devoted family member. Katie would also enjoy the company of a fun and respectful canine...she would love the playtime and companionship.
Katie will love the trails and paths of Colorado (she's the perfect size to enjoy walks through her neighborhood socializing with her neighbors). Window-shopping would also be great to fine-tune her urban skills and provide the socialization that is so important in the development of a dog's abilities. With feelings of security within the family, Katie will learn the skills of being alone and knowing her family will aways return.
Katie has a beautiful, non-shedding silver (with touches of black) and white coat. She will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her gorgeous coat cottony-soft and matt-free.
We've requested that Katie be spayed prior to her transport to Colorado. We're hoping that this will occur. If it doesn't.. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Katie's spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used.
Katie will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 1/6/17. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and devoted best friend and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
