My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Yay! I’ve been moved from the “sponsors needed” page to the “available” page. I’m ready to find my new family. If you read about me before, you know that I was advertised on Craig’s List. I was adopted, but that family had an allergic child. I kept getting passed around and the last person who had me was going to take me to the shelter. A caring vet tech who works there knew that I wouldn’t come out of that place alive, so she took me home and did a bit of networking before she found a foster home for Midwest BREW. The vet she took me to diagnosed me with possible Cushing’s disease, and told her that no rescue would take me. Surprise!! These folks at Midwest BREW rock!
I went to the vet that Midwest BREW uses, and she’s been working with my foster mom to determine the right dose of medicine for me. It was really easy. It worked on the first try, and my tests only show great results. The vet said I’ve responded wonderfully to the medicine; she has a dog with the same thing I have and she wished her dog would be that lucky. So, I take one capsule in my food every morning, and that’s it. I will need a family who’s conscientious and dedicated to giving me my medicine every day and taking me for blood tests 2 – 3 times a year to make sure it’s still working right. My meds are about $50 a month, and the blood test is about $200.00, so I do have to have a bit more medical care than the average annual visits.
I am totally housetrained, and basically a good girl. I do get sassy at mealtime. I think I’m saying “hurry up, hurry up” because Cushing’s disease makes a dog more hungry and thirsty than normal. I was overweight when I came to my foster home, but I’ve been eating right and going for walks, and I’ve lost 5 pounds! I haven’t been crated here, and please don’t try, because I will bark without end until I’m let out. Not so much into that confinement thing.
So, if you’re looking for an easy-going, undemanding (except for my meals) beagle, please consider me. I can’t wait to have my very own family again.
NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
