Hello this is Rico. He is one beautiful Chinese Crested Hairless and is about 5 years old. Ok, this is in the eye of the beholder. But just look at those glamour shots! He has had a bit if a rough go but is well on the road to recovery.
Rico is great with cats, dog and children (well those that do not make too much noise – they make him nervous). Rico has had valley fever for about a year. He unfortunately lost an eye because of it but is now his same old confident self. The pictures with both eyes where the night before the eye removal. He is groomed and he is back to looking like his normal confident self. His ears are standing back erect and he stands tall and happy again. One eye was removed and has a prosthetic orb in place for cosmetic purposes. It appears that he one eye is just closed. It was removed 18 months ago as a result of Valley Fever. His eye was removed by Eye Care for Animals an eye specialist. He is now on anti fungal medication to treat the Valley Fever. The good eye remains healthy and not a concern for removal.
He has a bottle of medication that will last about two months. He has to have it two times a day. He is current on rabies and parvo shots. However he is not fixed. He has a micro chip also. He needs an adult home or one that doesn’t have small children coming in and out of the house. We have small children and he is fine with them, but if the neighbors kids come over and are running and screaming it makes him nervous. He does his business outside and is leash trained. He's all around the kind of dog everyone wants. He is crate trained too but hasn’t been sleeping in a crate. He knows some commands like "in, out, sit, leave it, no, up, go for a walk, let the dog out". And he has all of his warm clothes too. He cannot be an outside dog or left outside for any length of time.
