Pooh's Story...
Our handsome little man Pooh is back and is looking for a great home! Pooh is a 4 year old border collie mix that originally came to us when he was found as a stray, and his owners said that they no longer wanted him. He was adopted, but returned two weeks later for, "pulling a little on the leash" and getting off of the clothesline that he was attached to. Poor Pooh can't catch a break! This young man is such a sweetheart too. He is extremely well behaved and walking him with a harness immediately corrects any pulling issues. Pooh is very gentle and loving. When he is off the leash in our exercise yard, he strolls around to check things out, then sits by your side to be petted. He takes treats very gently and prefers to bury them rather than gobble them up. Pooh will sit nicely when asked and is very patient when it's his turn to go for a walk. He loves absolutely everyone he meets and even gets along with other dogs and cats. Please give our little Pooh bear the forever home that he's dreaming of! 12/11/12 File#22132

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Pooh, a Forked River Border Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie for sale in Forked River, or seeking a Border Collie dog from a breeder in Forked River.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Forked River already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Forked River breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie breeders who help with Border Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Forked River paves the way for another one to be saved.
