My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Casey is an adolescent dog who loves life! He is a 9 month old male Beagle-Boxer mix who came to us from an impound/shelter, and is pretty much full grown at 48#. He is sweet and friendly and enjoys attention. Casey will snuggle next to you on the sofa (he is permitted up on the furniture in his foster home) and sleeps with you at night. Likes to follow his people around - especially the older male teen in the home. Gets along great with the resident dog, and the two of them tear around the fenced yard together. Because Casey has age appropriate energy, and needs daily exercise, another playful dog and a fenced yard for them to run around in is recommended (he does respect a 4 foot fence). He might also be a good match for a jogger. Casey likes to play with toys - unfortunately he can't tell which things on the floor are his and which aren't so he needs supervision in the house, plenty of approved things to chew on, and should b to be crated when left. He goes into the crate for a treat and has been left for up to 6 hours during the daytime - the foster expects he should be able to "hold it" for a full workday. Casey sits on command and is learning "off" and "down". He will usually come when called from within the fenced yard. Casey hasn't had much leash training and does pull some - as with any young dog with a good attention span, we recommend obedience classes which provide training and help dogs become more confident. Because he sometimes jumps to greet (does respond to verbal correction), we recommend that any kids in his adoptive home be respectful and at least 6 years old. He also give gentle nibbles and likes to lick your feet. Not a big barker; has a whine/howl that will make you laugh. No cat experience.
Casey has been neutered, heartworm negative, and is current on distemper, rabies and bordetella vaccinations. His microchip is registered to Second Chance. Casey's adoption fee is $250. Call 651-771-5662 if you would like to meet him.
