My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Torque! I am a very big boy and I love to play and be loved on. I have been with the same family and my best buddy Shift for the last 6yrs, but one of the family members is attending college in Phoenix, Arizona and they say it's just too hot for me and Shift to be comfortable down there, so they are looking for someone with a big heart and an even bigger yard so hopefully we can stay together since we have not been apart since the day we met in 2011. Winter is our favorite season, and Phoenix doesn't get any snow, so we want to stay here where we can enjoy cooler weather a few months out of the year. I like to get out and see the world, but I still need some work on the leash and a strong owner because I get so excited that I try to walk or run really fast (which is why my name is Torque... I have a lot of pulling power!) I am good with submissive dogs, but I get defensive when other dogs try to be dominant or aggressive towards me, so I would be best in a home by myself, with another mellow large female or better yet with my best buddy Shift! Like most Malamutes, I have a strong prey drive so I have to go to a home with no cats or other small animals. I like to run and play and dig and sometimes I find a loose board or dig a hole and sneak out to go exploring, especially during the first few weeks in a new yard, so it is very important that my new owner is able to secure all fencing and keep an eye on me so I don't get myself into trouble. I don't climb fences, but if they're short enough I will try to jump over them, so a 6ft fence would be a good idea too. I am a good boy and very well house trained and won't go to the bathroom inside while you're at work all day, but I might get into the trash if there's something that smells good in it and you don't put it securely away. I will lay at the foot of your bed while you sleep or cuddle with you in bed if you'll let me. I like kids and have been best buds with a little girl that came into the family 4yrs ago, but just like every dog, I don't like my face pulled on or my neck squeezed and sometimes I play too rough so I would do best with kids who are 8yrs old or older. I will do just about anything for a treat, I know lots of basic commands, I respond very well to my name, I am not food aggressive and I am crate trained. I would really like to stay with my sister Shift so hopefully we can find a family who has enough room in their hearts for both of us.

Torque is a large, male Malamute about 8 years old. He and his best buddy, Shift, are looking for a home together, if possible. As you can tell by the photos he and Shift are very attached to each other and would love a home together.
