My story

Guinness is a busy little bee that has been on the minds of those at Home Fur Good who make the journey to county to find new residents. Three weeks after the initial meeting, Guinness was still at county searching for his forever home, so HFG brought him in to try and help with that search. He is a four-year-old, 18-pound, highly active Chihuahua mix. Guinness knows that he is handsome, and he asks that you allow him space; he is not one of those dogs that wants to constantly be picked up and snuggled. He is confident in himself, and he does not require all that assurance. With his dash of chihuahua attitude, Guinness will do best in a home with older children. He has really begun to trust his favorite volunteers, and he will seek affection and glorious head scratches. Guinness loves the game of fetch, he goes batty for squeaky toys, and for now, playing is much more fun than dozing the day away! Guinness was hooked the moment he was asked to join the Walking Club. He loves to prance about town and check out all the sights and scenes. The adoption fee is $225 and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipping, and a free wellness visit at Phoenix Mountain Animal Hospital. Our adoption hours are Thursday-Saturday from 11:00 am-4:00 pm by appointment.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Home Fur Good has trained adoption counselors to review and question any potential problems/issues with application. We do require an adoption fee which ranges for dogs $150-$300 and for cats $50-$100. All cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and vet checked.
If another dog or dogs are present in the household we require a meet and greet prior to adoption. All members of the household must be on board with adoption. We do not adopt our rescues out without meeting person that will be responsible - no "gift" adoptions. We contract that if cat/dog must be relinquished they are returned to us. If there is a change of ownership we must be kept informed who responsible party is. Fees are non refundable.

More about this rescue

Home Fur Good is a non profit no kill animal shelter located in the NE Valley. We take a majority of our cats and dogs from County, many who have treatable medical conditions and would otherwise be put down. We assess physical and behavior and work with the cats/dogs to find the best suitable match. It is our goal that each cat or dog that comes to our shelter ultimately be placed in their "furever" homes.

We also operate a low cost vaccine and microchip clinic each Sunday. We want to help community be able to care for and keep their animals safe. We do not charge vet fee only fee for vaccine and microchip. Additionally we have a low cost dental clinic each Wednesday. Check our website for more details.
