My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Turbo is a 2 year old, black tri, neutered male Aussie that weighs about 55 pounds. He is friendly, energetic and goofy. Turbo has never met a stranger and loves people. He is currently living with 6 other dogs and 3 cats. He wants to chase the cats but they won't run (much to his disappointment). Turbo can be a rough player and the older dogs tend to tell him off when he gets too rough. He will back off and then just go back to playing rough again. So he needs a tolerant playmate, another rough player or a dog that won't put up with his play at all (like the female aussie in the foster home) if he goes to live with another dog. Update: Turbo is getting much better at cooperative play with the other dogs and they are letting him play more.
Turbo knows how to wave, sit, down and has the fastest nubbin tail I have ever seen. Turbo can get a bit overaroused. This is only when something exciting is happening (mainly movement) or it is meal time (he is very food motivated). He shows this over arousal by barking, jumping and talking/growling to the other dogs. His foster is working on making sure these behaviors don't work for him and he is getting better. He is currently being weaned completely off the behavior medication he came to us on (Fluoxetine) and we are not noticing ill effects from reducing that. Exercise definitely helps him relax and be more content. As Turbo gets adequate exercise, matures and adjusts to a new home he will definitely not need any medications. He has a definite off switch and will sleep or lie quietly and chew on bones while loose in the home. Turbo is being walked off leash in a very rural area and checks in with us well. Turbo does get excited and bark and lunge while on leash when he sees something moving like wildlife so he will need some training for this. He will definitely need a home that can give moderate to high exercise to him at least until he matures.
All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. We need an approved application on file to set up a meeting with a dog you might be interested in. You can find our application at www.aussierescuemn.com All dogs have an adoption fee of $300 plus MN sales tax. We pride ourselves on matches that are awesome for both the dog and your family. Aussie Rescue of MN is here for support, advice and as a safety net for our dogs for the rest of their lives.
