Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Cooper is a big squishy boy who loves nothing more than pressing himself into your arms for the best hugs imaginable. This handsome guy is incredibly smart and received extensive professional training through Magic City K9, an organization that accepted Cooper into their unique program focused on giving both dogs and people a second chance to thrive. As part of this program, Cooper lived with his trainer at Everglades Correctional Facility in Miami, where inmates and dogs work together to build skills, confidence, and brighter futures.
Thanks to this experience, Cooper has learned over 40 commands and truly enjoys using his brain. He made friends with many of the dogs in his training class, though he does best with proper introductions when meeting new canine pals. While Cooper is a total softie once he knows you, he can be a bit nervous around strangers, so he needs time to build trust. A lower-traffic home where he can settle in at his own pace would be ideal. Cooper is about 4 years old, weighs 65 pounds, and is made up of pure American Bulldog snuggles. There really is no hug like a Cooper hug. Now that his training is complete, Cooper is back at Abandoned Pet Rescue, patiently waiting for a loving forever home to call his own. You can follow his journey and see more of his sweet personality on Instagram at @supercooper_apr. To meet sweet Cooper please fill out an adoption application at abandonedpetrescue.org!

More about this shelter
Abandoned Pet Rescue (APR) is one of the largest no-kill animal shelters in South Florida with the mission of rescuing and sheltering abandoned and abused cats and dogs with the goal of finding them new homes. APR's adoption center has about 150 cats and 30 dogs, all of which receive nutritious meals, veterinary care, enrichment and love.
APR, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was founded in 1996 by a group of volunteers who were trapping, spaying and neutering feral cats and quickly realized the greater need to help abandoned pets and advocate for a no-kill community. APR is funded solely by generous donors and grants.
