My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Max was brought in by his previous owner on July 7, 2023.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Max! This cute boy is ready to bring the fun wherever he goes! He can be quite shy when it comes to meeting new people, so he will need some extra time to get to know you. Max has done well with some other dogs, but also has shown some selectivity with who he wants to be friends with - if you do have another dog, it would be best to bring them in for a meet-and-greet prior to adoption! Due to Max's shy nature, he would do best in a home without young children where there isn't too much hustle and bustle. Once he opens up, this goofy guy shows his true personality, including his love of treats and car rides! If you are looking for a new friend like Max, bring the whole household down to meet him today. Remember to bring a leash and collar for the ride home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
