My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet our staff favorite! Blackburn is a sleek and shiny 4-year-old black cat with a super sweet and friendly personality. He was adopted from AFRP as a kitten, and returned to our care when his guardian could no longer care for him. Originally from the Salinas Animal Shelter, Blackburn was bottle fed in foster care as a tiny kitten, and he's grown up to be a happy, affectionate and athletic adult. He enjoys playing tag and fetch, and he loves watching birds and squirrels from the windowsill. Blackburn loves people (unknown with dogs) and is a fabulous companion, but he is anxious around other cats so he will do best as a single cat in the home. His litter box habits are great as long as his person uses Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract litter and continues to keep him on Hill's Urinary Care C/D cat food. Blackburn he'll do best in an adult household or with kids over age 10.

Blackburn is currently in foster care. Meet and greets can be arranged once your online application has been received and approved. Visit www.animalfriendsrescue.org for our required online application.

Additional adoption info

Adoption fees help to cover the cost of the care the animal has received during their time with us, including spay/neuter, vaccines, microchipping, deworming, and flea treatment and basic foster care.

All potential adopters complete an application and are screened using a standardized series of questions by a trained adoption counselor. If the application and screening are satisfactory, a qualified adopter can complete a contract, pay the adoption fee and take the animal home.
