My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Drake came to us from Hitchcock Road Animal Services after testing positive for Parvo. This brave pup battled the virus and now he’s ready to find a home to call his own! Whoever ends up with Drake is in for a lifetime of cuddles, goofiness, and love. He’s a total sweetheart and is currently available for foster or adoption.

Drake is a happy, playful boy who’s always on the lookout for snuggles. He’s a true cuddle bug and will happily climb into your lap, even if he doesn’t quite fit. He loves the outdoors and would make a great hiking buddy. He lights up when he gets to escape the noise of the world and head out on a trail with his favorite people (and maybe a few treats).

Because of his rough start, Drake can be a little shy when meeting new people. But once he trusts you, he’s yours for life. He’s made a ton of progress in our care and has worked one-on-one with two different trainers. He’s super smart and picks things up quickly. Right now, Drake would do best with experienced adult adopters or families with dog-savvy kids over 15. He would do best as the only dog in the home, but may do well with the right match for both cats and dogs!

To help him keep building confidence and strengthen his bond with his future family, continued one-on-one training will be required as part of his adoption.

Drake is currently in boarding, but meet-and-greets can be arranged once your application is approved. If you’re interested in giving this lovable guy a chance, visit www.animalfriendsrescue.org to fill out an application.

Additional adoption info

Adoption fees help to cover the cost of the care the animal has received during their time with us, including spay/neuter, vaccines, microchipping, deworming, and flea treatment and basic foster care.

All potential adopters complete an application and are screened using a standardized series of questions by a trained adoption counselor. If the application and screening are satisfactory, a qualified adopter can complete a contract, pay the adoption fee and take the animal home.
