This brave little (big and leggy) guy came to AFRP after testing positive for Parvo, and let us tell you, he kicked that virus’s butt. Now fully recovered, Drake is ready to find a forever home filled with love, snuggles, and maybe a few trails to explore. He's looking for his special adopter, but he's also looking for a special foster as well!
Drake is equal parts goofball and snuggle bug. He loves climbing into laps (even if he doesn’t quite fit) and will happily soak up all the attention you have to give. Outdoors? He’s a little adventurer at heart and would make the perfect hiking buddy—just don’t forget the treats, because he’s very motivational and also needs some extra motivation when he's a bit tired (he might be a LITTLE lazy sometimes).
He can be a little shy around new people because of his rough start, but once he decides you’re in his inner circle, you’ve got a lifelong BFF. Drake is super smart, picks up new things quickly, and has already made amazing progress working with two different trainers. With the right guidance, he’ll keep growing into the confident, loving pup he’s meant to be.
Drake would thrive in an adult-only home or with dog-savvy kids 15 and up. He’s currently best as the only dog in the household, though with careful introductions he may get along with the right cats or canine companions. Continued one-on-one training will help him keep building confidence and strengthen the bond with his forever family, this is something AFRP will require proof of pre-registration for prior to adoption.
** This pet is a Foster-to-Adopt candidate!
That means you can foster them for a short trial period to make sure they’re the perfect match for your home before finalizing the adoption. If you’re interested, please complete both a foster application and an adoption application so we can get the process started. **
Drake is currently in a loving foster home. A meet and greet can be scheduled once an online application has been submitted and approved by AFRP staff. Visit www.animalfriendsrescue.org to fill one out today!

Additional adoption info
Adoption fees help to cover the cost of the care the animal has received during their time with us, including spay/neuter, vaccines, microchipping, deworming, and flea treatment and basic foster care.
All potential adopters complete an application and are screened using a standardized series of questions by a trained adoption counselor. If the application and screening are satisfactory, a qualified adopter can complete a contract, pay the adoption fee and take the animal home.
