My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We're hoping that Sylvie's chance at a home comes real soon. It breaks our heart that this sweet, loving girl has been at our shelter for almost 2 1/2 years. Did you know that black dogs are the most overlooked dogs in a shelter? Sylvie is beautiful and so deserving of a home. We're asking - would you consider providing Sylvie a temporary home serving as her foster family while we actively network her until we find her that perfect match that will provide her with a permanent, loving family and happily ever after? Foster homes greatly increase the chances of speedier adoptions and you'd be making a huge, positive difference in the life of an animal who needs you. Please read on to learn a bit more about Sylvie and please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions you have. We answer all emails.

Sylvie's joyfulness is contagious. She's a happy, happy girl who will run from person to person greeting them with a gleeful, tail-wagging smile. She would do great with a family that will shower her with the attention she so deserves and provide the playful interaction she craves. She's game for playtime, exploration, walks, hikes and snuggles, lots of snuggles. She likes to be near her people and loves to be pet. If you have a fenced yard, that would be a plus because she gets silly-excited with the freedom to explore her surroundings and will lovingly and blissfully check in with her caregivers as if to express gratitude. She's got all the qualities that prove she will bond quickly with her new family. She's so fun and sweet, smart and loyal and so ready to love and be loved. Sylvie is spayed, micro-chipped and up to date with vaccinations. Her weight is around 68 lbs and her birth date is 7/4/22. If interested in providing a permanent or foster home for this cheery girl, please email adoptions@smilingdogfarms.org for an application.

Please note we are always in need of foster homes. If interested in making a difference in a dog's life we would love to share with you what it means to be a foster parent.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We are dedicated to ensuring that our dogs go to a "forever" loving, nurturing home. As a result, our process is stringent, requiring an application, home visit, vet and reference checks and an adoption contract. We want the adoption to be a match made in heaven for both the new adoptive parents and the adopted dog.

Go meet their pets

We provide adoption opportunities for those living in the Northeast who are willing to do long distance adoptions. Many of our dogs live in Wharton, Texas but we have very safe, reliable transport to the Northeast.

More about this rescue

Smiling Dog Farms is a 501(c) non-profit animal rescue. We strive to restore hope to the forgotten, neglected and rejected unwanted dogs and puppies rescued from the streets and local kill-shelters. Each dog that enters our rescue receives their full round of vaccinations, gets spayed or neutered, micro-chipped and placed on flea and tick and heartworm prevention. Many of our dogs live in Wharton Texas, but we have very safe, reliable transport to the Northeast.
