My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pygmy`s Compatibility:
Dogs - Meet & Greet
Cats - Looking for a no-cat lifestyle
Kids - Yes, 8+

Meet Pygmy, the dog with personality in spades! Part Chihuahua, part Russell Terrier, part English Shepherd, part Husky… he’s a little bit of everything, which makes him one-of-a-kind. At 8 years old, Pygmy has already mastered being entertaining. He’s got the tippy-tappy paws, the happy wiggles, and a talent for telling stories in his own voice.

Pygmy loves being with his people and will happily curl up on the couch to hang out. He’s also a bit of a character on walks — curious, alert, and always interested in the world around him. Life with Pygmy will never be boring, and he’s looking for someone who loves a dog with quirks, confidence, and plenty of charm.

He’ll need a cat-free home, and if you already have dogs, we’d love to set up a meet-and-greet to see how they click. Pygmy is ready to start fresh with someone who understands him and appreciates all the things that make him special.

Come meet Pygmy and see for yourself why this lovable mix is unforgettable!

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
