My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bison came into our care in April 2023 after being impounded at South LA Shelter for months while he deteriorated in a kennel. Prior to that, he lived his first 13 years of life outdoors. We believed Bison deserved a chance at a different life and welcomed him as a Frosted Face. After making big strides on-site, he went on a 2-week Frosted Fling with volunteers and did great in a home environment! His Fling Family shared:

"Bison thrived on affection and playful interactions. We could get right up close to his face, touch his rump, and even step over him like a game of leapfrog—he would get so excited, bursting into playful energy with his little signature “pounce.” He would enjoy playing fetch in a space that is big enough. He did play fetch in our home but it was too small for him.

We walked him about three to four times a day. We did take him to public places but we were mindful of the time of day. Not because of Bison but because other people do not always respect leash regulations (on hikes and at the beach for example many people tend to let their dogs off leash).

Bison absolutely loves his outdoor time, so a home with a yard would be ideal for him. He’s the ultimate cuddle buddy and such a playful, happy boy. His goofy personality kept us laughing all day long! One of his favorite things was knocking things over—we even saved empty boxes just so he could walk by and topple them. He also loved emptying his toy basket.

While we were home with him most of the time, there were occasions when we had to leave for the day. He was alone for about 10 hours, and he handled it well—no accidents, no destructive behavior. To help create a calming environment, we left Dog TV on (the one with classical music and dog-friendly visuals), sprayed lavender, and set the lights to a soft violet “relax” mode. These small things seemed to provide comfort, and he settled in just fine until we returned.

Bison is a wonderful, loving dog who just needs patience, guidance, and a steady presence to help him feel safe and secure. He is so sweet, affectionate, and fun-loving and brings so much joy. He’ll thrive in a home where he gets plenty of love, playtime, and a little space to roam."

Bison currently lives in a Foster home through our Molly & Me Project, which is a paid foster program for families who have no other pets. Learn more at: https://frostedfacesfoundation.org/mollymeproject
