On January 16th, while our volunteer transporter was at Riverside Shelter to exit several of their urgent seniors, a man approached with Lola. He explained that Lola was 18 years old and had belonged to his mom who passed away. He had tried to surrender her four times to the shelter but was declined due to limited space.
Our volunteer transporter called and asked if she could bring Lola back to FFF. YES! Lola was in dire need of some extra TLC, including her sadly long toenails that were curled under, which was making it difficult for her to walk.
Lola Loofah is very sweet, gentle, and was understandably a little confused by the recent upheaval in her life. Fortunately, she is currently on an extended Frosted Fling, so she can enjoy extra love and pampering in the cozy comforts of a home. We received a great update from her Fling Mom:
"Lola Loofah settled into her foster home nicely. She is a very easy, sweet dog! She goes potty outside and sleeps through the night. Lola loves to go on walks. She doesn't pull on the leash at all, and she's very easy to direct. As you can see in the video, she still has a lot of pep in her step!
Lola is also an amazing foster sister. She gets along with all dogs and cats she meets. As you can see in the video, she is very gentle with cats.
Here is what else I have learned about Lola:
- She is so sweet! She will melt in your arms when you pet her.
- She is almost deaf but can see fairly well.
- She is smaller than she looks in pictures, and at only 25 pounds, I am trying to put a little weight on her.
- She follows me around the house some and also likes to wander outside and back inside. She would do best in a house with easy outdoor access.
- She sleeps through the night, then starts pacing in the morning when she has to go out.
- Her legs are a little unstable but she walks really well for an 18 year-old! She can easily walk a mile or two.
- She can jump out of the car and handles a few steps well.
- She does pace and seem a little confused at times, but she is very attentive and seeks attention.
- I've never heard her bark or seen her wag her tail.
Lola is very gentle and adorable, and she would make a great companion in any home!"
