Meet Duke of Earl, also known a Duke for short!
LOOK AT THAT SMILE?!?!
Duke came to us from one of our vet partners Middle Tennessee Veterinary Center after they pulled him from a shelter. He was at risk of euthanasia because of a prior injury, being heartworm positive and the fact that he was an older dude. It is clear that this guy is thankful for his second chance at life and he lives every day with a purpose to be happy. Seriously nothing stops this guy! At roughly 6-7 years old, Duke is as cool as he can be. He loves walks, meeting new people- kids included, he is smart, food motivated and loves being praised. We do not have any details on cat exposure therefore, at this time it is unknown if he can live with them. He is doing well with learning the house is not where he potty's and he has been crate trained- although not his favorite place. :)
Duke had to have his eye removed due to an old injury- of being hit by a car. He has handled that wonderfully and hasn't let it slow him down. He has had his first treatment for heartworms and did VERY well! He will have 2 more treatments (already paid for) but we felt that he was thriving enough to go ahead and get him settled in his forever home! Please note his treatment will be followed through with his adopter until he is officially heartworm negative.
Duke is up to date on vaccines, neutered, microchipped and is in treatment for heartworms. His adoption fee is $275. Apply now at: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/SFP-A-351
Please note that we are a completely volunteer run organization. We do our best to respond to applications within 72 hours. We also can only setup meet and greets once an application has been filled out and interview completed. More about this rescue
We are a foster based animal rescue in the Nashville area.
Our mission is to work as a shelter diversion for animals who are facing homelessness, through no fault of their own. We provide vet care, a foster and adoption for animals belonging to owners who are homeless or living below the poverty level, where rehoming is their only option.
The majority of SOARescue animals come to us through our big sister organization SAFPAW (Southern Alliance for People and Animal Welfare).
If you would like to learn more about SAFPAW and their weekly spay/neuter transport, homeless outreach program and women's post recovery home, please visit their website at www.safpaw.org.
If SOARescue has the capacity to aid with other strays or owner surrenders, we will gladly do so. Our goal is to help relieve pressure on the over-burdened shelter system.
