My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Playful and loving!

Hi, friends! My name is Gracie, and I’m an 1-year-old Terrier mix female, weighing in at 50 pounds. I’m in great health, and I have not yet been spayed. Let me tell you, I’ve had quite the eventful life already at such a young age! I was found on the streets, living with some addicts on Skid Row. They couldn’t properly take care of me, and I ended up being hospitalized for five days. That’s when TAP scooped me up and gave me this second chance at life! I just can’t wait to see what my future has in store and meet my furever family.

I’m a high-energy gal, who has a playful, yet gentle, personality. I love taking walks, getting treats, meeting new people, playing, and cuddling. But I can get tuckered out quickly, so I love to sleep and sunbathe outside in the sun, too.
I’m a smart pup, and I’ve already mastered potty-training, crate-training, and leash-training (tip: a front harness leash works best!). Even though I love my humans, I don’t have any separation anxiety when they leave me behind. Do I sound like the perfect pet or what?

I think I’d do best in an active home. While I prefer having company during the day, I tend to be fine on my own for periods of time. Doggie siblings would be A-OK with me, but I can be selective with which ones I get along with. I haven’t spent much time around kids, so due to my tendency to nip when I get excited, I think it’s safe to say no small children in the home. Other than that, just give me lots of love and treats, and I’ll be yours forever! My adoption fee is $450 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
