"Dogs come into our lives to teach us about love." This makes us think of our lovely Beatrice.
Meet Beatrice! This beautiful brindle dog is one year old and weighs 40 pounds. Beatrice is spayed and is heartworm negative. Beatrice came from a property with a lot of dogs, and because of that, she will feel more comfortable if there is at least one other dog in her new home. Beatrice has the sweetest nature but is shy meeting new people, so she just needs someone who will give her time to feel secure. She is very affectionate and loving once she knows you!
We think Beatrice would make a great farm dog as she loves being outdoors especially with other dogs to play with, but she does well inside too. She is house trained! Beatrice will go in a crate and can sleep through the night. She also enjoys car rides and snuggling with those she loves! We recommend families with older children (age 15+) because she can be timid. Beatrice shares toys nicely with other dogs and does not guard food.
Favorite activities for Beatrice include resting under a desk by your feet, playing outside, or working on a chew toy! She listens well and is highly trainable and listens well. So if you have a heart for the shy dogs, then Beatrice would fit in perfectly in your multi-dog home! Your patience will pay off because once she knows you, she is as snuggly as can be and will be the best companion!
Beatrice had a recent outing at Edwin Warner Park. She was great on the walking trail and did not bark or act anxious going by anyone. A man came up with his dog on leash and Beatrice was fine with both the man and his dog! She is easy on the leash! Beatrice knows sit so we are working on “down”.
Beatrice has had such fun in play groups with her fellow shelter companions. If you have another dog, we do require a meet and greet to ensure compatibility.
Beatrice is spending some out of the shelter time at the homes of two of our dedicated volunteers. If you would like to meet her, we will put you in touch with the fosters.
