My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"Dogs want and need to be loved." This makes us think of dear Gertrude.

Tenderhearted Gertrude is such a gentle soul! She is ten months old and weighs 24 pounds.

Gertrude came from a property with several dogs, so she would love to have another doggy sibling in her home.

She had not had a lot of human contact prior to arriving at the shelter. Our staff and volunteers have spent a lot of time with Gertrude to help her become more confident. We are pleased at how well she is coming along! We love to sit next to Gertrude to pet and encourage her.

Gertrude enjoys spending time in the fenced yard, where she loves to run and play. She has also learned to walk on a leash and trots happily at your side.

She has the best time in play groups with her fellow shelter companions, and we enjoy seeing her have to much fun!

Gertrude is a smart young dog who should do well with training.

With patience and understanding, we expect that Gertrude will continue to blossom!

Lucky Gertrude is spending some time in the home with two of our dedicated volunteers and is settling in so well. She loves sleeping on a blanket in her crate, has such fun outside, comes when called and appears to be housebroken.

More about this shelter

Cheatham County Animal Control is committed to finding good homes for the animals that come into the shelter system. We work with rescues and adopters. We are a no kill shelter but we rely on people coming in to adopt!

All of our cats/dogs receive vaccinations that are appropriate for the age and health when they are at animal control. We also spay and neuter all of our animals. The adopter is responsible for all vaccinations and medical care after adoption.
