My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Blondie was a stray that was pulled from an Animal Control facility. She was petrified and very reactive but after just three days, she was relaxing and giving me smoochies! Now she is doing great and is playful and very friendly. All she really wants is to be with her human. She does ok with other dogs her size but can be a bit jealous. But she has done fine once she realizes there is love and attention for more than one. She is a beautiful 8-10 lb long haired chihuahua who is believed to be five years old. I do not know how she will react to cats but think she will be fine if introduced slowly. We are currently accepting applications. Her adoption fee is $300 and that includes her spay, microchip, HW test, rabies shot and parvo/distemper vaccine. When she came to us, she was unable to walk on her back legs correctly as she had luxating pattelas in both back legs. Our vet performed surgery on both legs and after several months of rehab, she is good as gold and is now able to run and play and jump as she should have always been! She may be shy for her meet and greet but she is sitting on my lap as I am posting this so she will warm up. If interested in adopting, you must go to pawspaws.org to complete the PAWS application. The Petfinder Inquiry will not be recognized as an application. Please be sure to complete the application in full and supply all information about current and past pets, even if you no longer have them or they are deceased. We will need to contact your vet to verify records. An incomplete application will not be processed. Thanks so much for your interest!!

Additional adoption info

Dogs: The adoption fees for PAWS puppies and dogs start at $200. Occasionally, the adoption fee will be higher and, if that is the case, it will be noted on the animal's profile. When you adopt your new dog or puppy, it will be spayed or neutered, wormed, micro-chipped, and up to date on routine shots. If it is six months or older, it will have been tested for heartworms and placed on a heartworm preventative.

Cats: The adoption fee for most PAWS kittens and cats is $75. When you adopt your new cat or kitten, it will be spayed or neutered, wormed, micro-chipped, and up to date on its shots, with the exception of its rabies shot, which must be given by a vet. IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO ADOPT A CAT OR KITTEN, BE SURE TO BRING A CARRIER OR PET TAXI WITH YOU. WE CANNOT SEND A CAT/KITTEN HOME UNLESS IT IS IN A CARRIER/PET TAXI.

We certainly recommend that you continue your pet's routine vaccination regimen with your veterinarian.

SAME DAY ADOPTIONS ARE NOT ALWAYS POSSIBLE, SO IF YOU ARE DRIVING FROM A DISTANCE, PLEASE MAKE ADVANCE ARRANGEMENTS.

IF YOU RENT, YOU MUST BRING A SIGNED RENTAL AGREEMENT FROM YOUR LANDLORD STATING THAT IT IS OKAY FOR YOU TO HAVE AN ANIMAL IN THE HOUSE. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A RENTAL AGREEMENT, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TAKE THE COMPANION ANIMAL OF YOUR CHOICE HOME WITH YOU.

OUT OF STATE ADOPTERS ARE ASKED TO PAY THE ADOPTION FEE IN CASH.

PAWS IS NOW EQUIPPED TO TAKE CREDIT CARDS.

If you are interested in adopting, please e-mail Kareel at pawsplace1@yahoo.com, and she will get back to you as soon as possible. If you live in the area, please come see us!! If not, please keep us in your thoughts. We need monetary donations badly in order to keep this wonderful operation going, so, if you are able, please send whatever you can. At the present time, PAWS Place is full of kitty grins and doggy smiles. Please help us keep it that way!!
