My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This guy…..volunteer favorite at the shelter. He was strong on the leash but manageable. The volunteers loved him so…..he was sent to be neutered.

Within a few days, Halston was running a fever and his “region” was swollen, red and painful. The infection was running through his body and he needed to see a specialist ASAP. He was rushed to an ER and that’s where we found him.

Thanks to the vets at ASEC, Halston survived. His poor “region” was filled with drains and he was loaded up on antibiotics and well…..here he is. Alive and handsome and ready for his new home.

Halston needs some leash work but he’s a quick learner. He loves people and will do anything to make you happy. You just have to let him know that you are in control.

And we have no idea who chopped off his ears.

Absolutely loves people

Doesn’t hold a grudge about his “region” being infected

Seriously, this guy needs a break.

Adopt Halston and give him a new start on life.

And if you can’t adopt, please consider fostering

Additional adoption info

If you find an animal that you are interested in, we do require that you fill out an adoption application. A home check will be done and we ask that all members of the family, animal and human, be present when we bring the new animal to your home. An adoption contract is then signed and a minimum donation is requested. Adoption donation is $350

Please note filling out an application does not guarantee an adoption. Please note we only adopt to Southern California. No out of state adoptions.

“The Adopt-A-Pet system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.”

More about this rescue

The Dawg Squad is working toward a time in Los Angeles when dogs are cared for, when all puppies find loving and generous owners. We rescue unwanted and abandoned dogs, provide them with medical care, rehabilitation and foster homes until caring, adoptive homes can be found. We spay and neuter prospective pets and educate owners about the importance of pet population control.
