My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*** Molly is in a foster home. ***

Molly #18883: brown/orange torbie, short hair, spayed female, born approx. 5/18/11

Cats: needs to be solo
Dogs: no thanks
Children: cat-savvy adults

BACKGROUND: When Molly’s beloved guardian of 13 years passed away, the trustee took Molly to a vet for convenience euthanasia; the vet was not comfortable with that and reached out to us and we helped her find a new home. Unfortunately, that person also took her for convenience euthanasia(!)—thankfully it was to a vet partner of ours and we were able to get Molly to safety.

PERSONALITY: Molly is a special girl who needs an experienced adopter who recognizes and is comfortable with the idea that Molly needs to have agency in her human-kitty connection. When you let Molly call the shots and respect her bodily autonomy, she flourishes and makes it clear how much she appreciates having you around. The way to Molly’s heart is through head scritches… she adores that, and as her soft purr gets going she’ll even start drooling with joy. Pets down her back and occasionally her belly are acceptable, though she can change her mind and will let you know; however, she’s almost limitless on head scratches, and if you get out a brush to go over her head and face in particular, well… that’s bliss! Even as a sizable kitty, Molly is still playful, and she likes to chase the wand toys you bring out—regular playtime is good for her. Molly is always communicative, and while she isn’t really a cuddler as such, she does like to be next to you for those pets and may creep onto your lap a bit on the couch; she generally spends part of the night on your bed as well.

COMPATIBILITY: Molly wants to be your only pet in a quiet adult-only home; she grew up as a singleton and approves of that lifestyle. She needs time to adjust to environment changes and time to get to know and connect with her new person; patience pays off, as does experience with cat body language, while you build your relationship together into something beautiful.

Molly deserves so much better than almost losing her life twice! Will you be the one to give sweet Molly all the love, attention, and space to be herself… and reap the happy rewards?
