Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Rusty is an adorable, adult dog with a beautiful rust-colored coat that perfectly matches his name — and his warm, confident personality. This sweet guy is house-trained, knows basic commands, and is as independent as he is charming.
Rusty is the kind of dog who enjoys companionship but also appreciates his personal space. He’s not clingy, but he’ll always be nearby, ready to offer you quiet support and a wagging tail. He thrives in a calm, predictable environment and would love to be the only pet in your home — he’s got enough love to give all on his own!
If you’re looking for a loyal, well-mannered pup who’s past the puppy stage but still has plenty of heart and energy, Rusty could be your perfect match.

The AWL is here to find the best match possible between adopters and the animals in our care. Keep in mind that a pet’s personality is way more important, and it’s best to try to find a pet that will fit into your lifestyle.

More about this shelter
The Animal Welfare League is a non-profit organization committed to advocating for animal protection and welfare. We are based in Port Charlotte, Florida. Since 1963 our shelter has served the Charlotte County community by providing a temporary home, medical service and caring attention for many dogs, cats and other animals. These animals come to us as strays, pets given up by their owners, unfortunate animals rescued from abuse and neglect, or simply lost pets in need of being re-united with their families.
