Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, I’m Midnight.
I’m an adult guy with a big heart and even bigger feelings. If you’re looking for a dog who believes cuddles are a full-time job, I’m your man. I’m incredibly sweet, affectionate, and I live for human connection — so much so that the staff here sometimes come cuddle me during long days. I take that job very seriously.
I’m a playgroup rock star and do amazing with other dogs. I’ve got a lot of energy and would thrive with an active person who can keep up with me and give me outlets to run, play, and splash — especially if water is involved, because I love it.
I do best in an adult-only home where things are a bit more predictable and I can really settle in and bond with my person. Once I’m comfortable, I’m loyal, loving, and always happy to be right by your side.
You might notice I can get loud and excited when I’m behind a gate or barrier. That’s just my barrier reactivity showing — it’s not aggression at all. I’m simply trying to say hello and usually asking to be taken outside. Once I’m out, I’m all wiggles and affection.
Bonus points: I’m fully house-trained and crate-trained, so I already have great manners and am ready to fit right into your home.
If you give me a chance, you’ll meet a devoted, high-energy, water-loving cuddle bug who just wants someone willing to keep up and love him back.

The AWL is here to find the best match possible between adopters and the animals in our care. Keep in mind that a pet’s personality is way more important, and it’s best to try to find a pet that will fit into your lifestyle.

More about this shelter
The Animal Welfare League is a non-profit organization committed to advocating for animal protection and welfare. We are based in Port Charlotte, Florida. Since 1963 our shelter has served the Charlotte County community by providing a temporary home, medical service and caring attention for many dogs, cats and other animals. These animals come to us as strays, pets given up by their owners, unfortunate animals rescued from abuse and neglect, or simply lost pets in need of being re-united with their families.
