Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Looks like: Shih Tzu
Male, 12 years old (estimated), 9 pounds
Winkle was named after Rip Van Winkle because of how much he slept when he came into our program (22 hrs a day!), and in the hopes that he would one day feel better and "wake up." We are happy to report that after he had all his medical issues addressed at our clinic, he "woke up" and really started to enjoy life.
Now he loves taking leisurely walks and toddling around the house and yard. He likes to find his foster parents and nuzzle them for love. He will follow his foster parents around and hang out where the other dogs are. In the evenings, he prefers some lap time before bed. He sleeps well through the night. He will test out all the dog beds in the house!
Winkle had severe dental disease when he came to POMDR and had to have all his teeth removed. He enjoys soft food at mealtime and soft treats throughout the day. Winkle has cataracts but he finds his way around the house and yard very well. Winkle had an anal sac tumor removed recently. We are hopeful that he has many more months or years ahead of him. Because of his medical situation, POMDR is offering his adopter a $1500 stipend for medical expenses.
Winkle came to POMDR from another rescue group when they discovered that his medical needs were more than they could handle. Senior dogs like Winkle with minor senior-related issues are our specialty so we were happy to bring him into our program.
