Meet Murphy – Your New Best Friend in Waiting

Murphy is a lovable goofball with a heart as big as his paws! At just 1 year old, this Boxer/Lab/Pit mix is bursting with playful energy, affection, and personality. Weighing in at 73 lbs, he’s a big, happy pup who’s ready to bring joy to his forever family.

Murphy is crate-trained, housebroken (with supervision), and does wonderfully with other dogs—though his bouncy play style might be a bit much for smaller pups. He’s super smart and eager to please, already knowing his basics like sit, stay, and down, and he walks nicely on leash. With continued training and consistency, Murphy is sure to shine even brighter.

Because of his size and enthusiasm, he’d do best in a home with older kids who can keep up with his fun-loving energy. This sweet, silly boy is neutered, healthy, and ready to meet his people.

Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

We prefer to schedule appointments for meet-and-greets to ensure that staff or volunteers are available to spend adequate time helping you/

2.
Meet the Pet

For safety reasons, please do not reach into kennels or attempt to touch animals through barriers. If you’re interested in a particular pet.

3.
Submit Application

After your visit, you’re welcome to submit an adoption application.

4.
Approve Application

After the application is submitted, we will review it and contact you if your application is chosen.

5.
Take the Pet Home

Once your application is approved, we will contact you to finalize the adoption process!

All that is needed for the adoption application is a

We are located at 1600 Johnson Road in Petersburg, Virginia.
Our hours of operation are Monday - Friday 10am till 3pm.
We are closed Saturdays and Sundays (as well as holidays) but are available by appointment outside of our open hours.
