Loyal is a beautiful 2-year-old Merle Catahoula with a heart as pure as his name. His story is especially touching — he was found abandoned at the future site of the new animal shelter, patiently waiting beside his belongings for the people who never came back.
Despite everything, Loyal’s spirit remains unbroken. He’s incredibly affectionate and just wants to be near his person — whether that’s joining you for a car ride, walking by your side, or curling up close for quiet time. He’s great in the car, friendly with other dogs, and always eager to make new friends.
Loyal is the kind of dog who will remind you every day what unconditional love looks like. He’s gentle, trusting, and ready to find the forever family who will never leave him behind again.

We prefer to schedule appointments for meet-and-greets to ensure that staff or volunteers are available to spend adequate time helping you/

Meet the Pet

For safety reasons, please do not reach into kennels or attempt to touch animals through barriers. If you’re interested in a particular pet.

Submit Application

After your visit, you’re welcome to submit an adoption application.

4.
Approve Application

After the application is submitted, we will review it and contact you if your application is chosen.

5.
Take the Pet Home

Once your application is approved, we will contact you to finalize the adoption process!

We are located at 1600 Johnson Road in Petersburg, Virginia.
Our hours of operation are Monday - Friday 10am till 3pm.
We are closed Saturdays and Sundays (as well as holidays) but are available by appointment outside of our open hours.
