My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FOSTERED IN NEW BRUNSWICK

Meet Leah: A Sweet and Shy Companion
Leah is a delightful 2 ½-year-old Black Mouth Cur mix who weighs 32 pounds. Her journey began in April 2023 when she was rescued from a high-kill shelter as a young puppy. Leah, along with her entire litter, was abandoned on a dirt road, but fortunately, they were taken in by the caring team at Barking Mad Animal Rescue.
Leah’s Journey
After her rescue, Leah was nurtured and cared for, transforming from a vulnerable puppy into a beautiful adult dog. She is now ready to find a loving foster home or, better yet, a forever family who can offer her the love and security she deserves.
Health and Wellness
Leah is in excellent health, having received all necessary vaccinations. She is microchipped, heartworm negative, and has been spayed. Her health ensures that she is ready to transition smoothly into a new home environment.
Personality and Temperament
Leah is a very sweet and shy girl. Her gentle nature makes her best suited for a quiet family, where she can take the time to learn what a loving home truly feels like. Despite her initial shyness, Leah is both dog-friendly and people-friendly. She minds well and is eager to bond with her new family.
Ideal Home
Leah would thrive in a calm and patient setting where she can slowly acclimate to her new surroundings. A family that can provide Leah with gentle encouragement and love will help her blossom into the confident companion she is meant to be.
If you are interested in fostering or adopting Leah, please reach out to Barking Mad Animal Rescue. Leah is ready to bring joy and companionship to her new home, and she is eagerly waiting to meet her perfect match.

More about this rescue

BMAR is a No-Kill facility: a place of safety for healthy adoptable animals, a home for the homeless, a haven for the mistreated, neglected, or abused animals of Sabine & surrounding counties. BMAR also runs a sanctuary for those deemed unadoptible due to medical and behavior issues.

100% Volunteer Rescue. We have no animal control, Humane Society, or SPCA operating in our area leaving animals in dire straights.

BMAR is dedicated to the prevention of cruelty & abuse to all animals & livestock.

We currently only adopt to states and Canada where we have a network in place to monitor animals and help with problems.

BMAR backs it's dogs for life and will take back no matter how long and at any time if circumstance arise and you cannot keep your pet.
