Taz is a 1-year-old, 35 lb. bundle of gentleness, resilience, and quiet hope. Once surrendered to Santa Cruz Animal Care & Control with his brother, both were absolutely terrified — trembling and frozen in fear. His brother was rescued first, but Taz was left behind… alone and afraid. Days later, as the shelter filled and time ran out, Taz’s name appeared on the “at risk for space” list. 💔
He hadn’t done anything wrong — he was just shy, scared, and needed time. But time was the one thing he didn’t have.
That’s when Paws Without Borders stepped in and saved his life, giving him the second chance he never thought he’d get. Now safe in a foster home, Taz is learning what love really means. 🕊️
He’s still shy with new people and the big, noisy world — but every day, he’s finding his confidence. Beneath the fear lives a silly, sweet, soulful dog who wants nothing more than to trust, to love, and to belong.
He watches lizards like it’s his favorite TV show 🦎, quietly collects socks like love letters 🧦, and only barks when he’s playing — the happiest sound you’ll ever hear. He adores his crate, is house-trained, gentle with kids, and friendly with cats and dogs alike.
Taz is the kind of dog who doesn’t rush love — he earns it. And when he finally gives you his trust… it’s forever. 💘

🐕 Great with other dogs – would love a confident companion to help show him the way
🐱 Gentle & curious with cats
👧 Sweet with kids (loves his foster’s 4-year-old granddaughter!)
