My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Kelly!
Kelly is a 3-year-old, 60 lb spayed Shepherd mix with a big heart and so much love to give. She’s been waiting almost two years for her forever home, and we can’t understand why! Kelly is friendly with both people and dogs and, thanks to her foster with Double Down Dog Training on Whidbey Island, she comes with an amazing training foundation.

True to her Shepherd roots, Kelly bonds deeply with her people and loves to be on the go. She has impeccable recall, enjoys swimming and fetch, and happily soaks up affection. On leash, she can be reactive with an inexperienced handler, so she’ll thrive with someone willing to continue the training she’s already started. With consistency and commitment, she’ll make an incredible adventure buddy and loyal companion.

Kelly loves toys, but she prefers to keep them to herself—so toy play is best as a special one-on-one activity with her person. She has an exuberant play style and a big personality, yet she’s just as content to relax once you do. She currently lives peacefully alongside other dogs with clear structure and leadership.

After spending much of her life overlooked, Kelly is more than ready for a fresh start. She’s a true gem waiting for the right person to finally see her shine. Lifetime training support is included to set her and her adopter up for success.

Ideal Home for Kelly

  • Large breed experience preferred

  • Single-family home with a fenced yard preferred

  • OK as an only dog or with resident dogs (with toy management)

  • Willingness to continue training and provide structure

Adoption Info: The adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations, flea/tick prevention, deworming, microchip and registration, and vet exam. You will also receive lifetime training support with Double Down Dog Training. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a 501c3 organization.

Animal History: Kelly was listed for euthanasia at the Moreno Valley Shelter in California due to overcrowding. She arrived in Seattle on Oct. 8, 2023 and was adopted (for a very short period) and returned due to two scuffles over a ball with the resident dog. Kelly is currently being fostered with Double Down Dog Training on Whidbey Island and is available for adoption in the greater Seattle area.
