My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Animal Profile: Tails (fka Tera) is a sweet medium sized German Shepherd mix who has spent much of her life raising puppies and is now ready to enjoy a loving home of her own. She was relinquished by the same family that relinquished Moses, Cutie Pie, and Cutie's puppies. Tails has a calm, gentle nature and a quiet confidence that comes from years of experience. While she may be a little reserved at first, Tails quickly warms up and forms deep bonds with the people she trusts. She’s seeking a family who will give her the comfort, care, and companionship she deserves after a lifetime of hard work and insecurity. Tails is ready to relax, be pampered, and enjoy a peaceful, happy home with a family all her own. She is recovering from flea dermatitis and is currently on a weight-loss plan. We look forward to getting her healthy and well!

She gets along well with all other dogs, cats, and is currently being fostered in a home with a 4-year-old dog-savvy girl. She would do well in a home with other animals. She will be a flight risk on transition (spent 36 hours on the run in Bothell after bolting through a doorway) and so we will require a secure fenced yard as well as understanding of managing dogs in transition, and use of a martingale collar/slip lead for safety. Tera is crate trained, house trained, and knows basic commands. She has no aggressive tendencies, resource guarding, reactivity, or behavior issues of note, aside from needing time to settle in new environments.

Foster Update: 1/7/2025- We have had Tails (Tera) for about close to 8 weeks and her growth has been amazing. She is getting more and more confident each day, graduating to leash free adventures in our fully fenced backyard and even running along side our resident dog during fetch. We brought her with us to a cabin in the mountains along with a bunch of kids and other dogs. She did fantastic, mainly staying in her crate observing but coming out for pets through out the day. Tails does very well in the car but we do keep her in the crate just in case she decides to bolt. She would be a perfect companion for someone who works from home or is home most of the time and provides a calm environment. Another pet in the home would be ideal, she has shown a lot of interest in our two cats.
