🐾 Meet Benji – A Gentle Soul on His Journey to Trust 🐾

Benji is a 6-year-old neutered male Shih Tzu mix with a story that touches the heart. Found matted and lost in the Ramona area, he was rescued by another group in rural Nevada before being transferred to Chihuahua Rescue Truckee Meadows in August 2024.

After all he’s been through, Benji is struggling to adjust and is still conflicted about whether or not to trust humans. Some days, he will take treats gently from his foster parent, showing his hope and curiosity. Other times, his fear takes over, and he will give a little growl warning to ask for space.

Benji is currently working on positive reinforcement training to help him overcome his distrust and feel safe in this new chapter of his life. He needs someone who understands that trust cannot be rushed – someone who will allow him to bloom at his own pace and on his own timetable.

We are confident that with time, patience, and love, Benji will become a wonderful companion, ready to share his gentle, loving heart with someone special.

Benji is current on vaccinations and microchipped, ready to find a forever home where he can continue his journey of healing and trust.
