My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐾 Meet Chewy – A Shy Little Survivor with a Big Heart 🐾

Say hello to Chewy, a 6-year-old, 10-pound, neutered male who is current on vaccinations and microchipped—and quietly hoping for someone special to believe in him. 💛

Chewy’s life didn’t start out easy. He was found living on the streets of Washoe County, and fear had become his way of surviving. When help finally arrived, Chewy was so terrified that he had to be carefully snared and even alligator-rolled in sheer panic just to be safely removed from the county vehicle kennel. That moment says everything about how scared this little guy was—not aggressive, just overwhelmed and afraid.

Today, Chewy is safe in foster care and beginning the slow, brave work of learning that humans can be trusted. He is very food motivated (hello, training treats!) and has started to warm up to his foster, though trust still comes in tiny, careful steps. Once Chewy feels safe, he has a soft side—neck rubs are his absolute favorite. 💕

Chewy will do best in a quiet, low-chaos home with patient adults who understand that love can’t be rushed. He’s not a social butterfly and may never enjoy lots of visitors or busy environments. For now, he needs a safe space when new people come over, and a human who respects his boundaries while gently building confidence. Given time, Chewy has the potential to form a deep, meaningful bond with his person.

✨ Chewy isn’t looking for perfection—just patience, understanding, and a chance. ✨
