My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐾 Meet Bud — Your Gentle Giant With a Heart of Gold 🐾
At 10 years old and a proud 95 pounds, Bud is a Great Pyrenees mix whose size is matched only by the warmth he brings into every room. 💙 He came to our rescue under heartbreaking circumstances—his beloved owner passed away—and while that chapter closed, Bud is ready to begin a new one filled with comfort, compassion, and companionship.
💛 A Truly Lovely Soul
• Bud is the definition of laid-back charm—great with all dogs, calm on walks, and unfazed by noisy canine greetings.
• No cats for this boy, though—he’s a little too intrigued by felines for their comfort. 🫣
• He’s lived with older children and shines with those who respect his space and slower pace. 🤗
• Smart? Oh, absolutely. He’s mastered the art of opening doors, so if a fence is involved, it will need to be very secure!
🌟 Everyday Moments Make Him Shine
• Bud adores rides in the car and settles beautifully in his crate.
• He’s got adorable quirks—like his fondness for drinking from the toilet (hey, good excuse to keep the lid down!). 🤭
• With polite table manners and zero begging, he’s an ideal dinner companion.
• Has a favorite stuffed toy, and when he’s feeling playful, he lights up the house.
🛏️ Comfort Is Key
• Bud appreciates a good brushing session and quiet shade by the pool.
• His foster calls him “the ultimate pal”—he greets everyone with calm affection and leaves people smiling. 🥰

Bud has arthritis and a limp from an old injury, but he is doing well on pain meds and enjoys shorter walks.

🎉 Ready for His Forever, Bud isn’t camera shy—he just prefers being present over posing. He’s content being near his people, loves gentle adventures, and will be a loyal sidekick to anyone ready to embrace the serenity of an older pup who’s still full of love and life. 💙

If you’re looking for a sweet, independent companion who’s past the puppy chaos but still has plenty of pep, Bud might just be your perfect match. 🐾

Additional adoption info

Each pet that is available for adoption is in a foster home for a minimum of 2 weeks after being rescued. This allows the animal to decompress and show their true personality, which in turn helps us find their best match.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

Visit https://operationfreedomride.com/ and click "available pets" to see who is available for adoption.

Periodically we have adoption events around the greater Rochester, NY area; however, we largely rely on the application process to best match people/families with available pets and then set-up a meet and greet to make sure it's a great match before finalizing the adoption.
