My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 6 Years Old

Gender: Male

Breed: Shepherd mix

Weight: 40 lbs

Personality: A total love bug with just a hint of drama. Strine is the king of chill—laid-back, loyal, and always down to lounge at your feet. He loves people more than anything (yes, even treats), and while he gets along with dogs, he does prefer to be the center of your world. He’s got a goofy grin, a heart of gold, and just enough sass to keep things interesting.

Education: Fully potty-trained, crate-trained, and walks great on leash. He listens well to “no” and “leave it,” and is picking up new commands like a champ. Smart boy energy!

Favorite Activities: Walks, playing fetch (for about 10–15 minutes before chilling again), snuggling at your feet, following you from room to room, and soaking up all your attention. Loves toys, stuffed animals, and being your number one fan.

Looking for: A loving home where he can be someone’s ride-or-die cuddle buddy. He’d thrive as the only dog (or with a bigger, respectful buddy), and likely would do well with kids. Not tested with cats. He’s low-maintenance, quiet, affectionate, and absolutely devoted to his human(s). Bonus: prefers dog beds over furniture!

Special needs: None

Adoption Fee: $ 300

Strine is the perfect blend of playful and peaceful. He’ll trot happily beside you on walks, fetch a ball like it’s his job, and then collapse in the sun for a long nap. He’s already overcome a rough past and is more than ready for a future filled with belly rubs, gentle words, and unconditional love.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
