My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 2y

Gender: Female

Breed: Shepherd mix

Weight: 43

Personality: Very loving with her humans and her foster brothers and very playful. She has a mild separation anxiety when you leave but settles quickly. She has lots of energy and enjoys all adventures with her people. She’s very smart and a little mischievous, and is very curious. She has a big personality and has much love to give. She requires some extra patience because of her missing teeth on one side and her tongue always hanging out, but she doesn’t let that slow her down. She’s not picky with toys or food or treats, and is so grateful for everything she gets.

Friendliness: Dogs: Yes Cats: Unknown Kids: Tweens 9-17

Education: Fully bathroom and crate trained; she is working on leash walking and is getting better at it

Favorite Activities: Going on walks, playing with any toys and especially chew toys, chasing balls, learning new things, cuddling with her people

Looking For: An active home with another dog or even a cat, or she can be an only pet. She has never met anyone she didn't love! She would love her people to take her out on walks and hikes and to snuggle with her! She is likely very kid friendly and would love having kids around to play with her.

Special Needs: Missing teeth on one side so tongue is usually hanging out, but that doesn't stop her enjoying her life!

If you’re looking for a loving, loyal, playful companion, I’d love to meet you! My adoption fee is $350 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip.  If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
