My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rowen's Journey: From Abandonment to Hope
A Rocky Start
Rowen's life began with a harrowing experience. Alongside her sibling, she was abandoned in a dense forest, left to fend for herself at a tender age. Fortunately, a kind-hearted passerby witnessed the heart-wrenching scene of them being left by a car. This Good Samaritan promptly contacted BMAR (Barking Mad Animal Rescue), setting off a chain of events that would change Rowen's life forever.
The Rescue Mission
The rescue team embarked on an exhausting hunt through the forest, determined to find the young pups. After a long, arduous day, their perseverance paid off. They discovered Rowen—scared, tired, hungry, and thirsty, yet miraculously alive and eager to trust her rescuers.
A New Beginning
From the moment she was found, Rowen displayed an innate friendliness. Despite her ordeal, she was ready to embrace the people who saved her. Since September 5, 2024, Rowen has been a resident at the rescue, where she has been given the love and care she deserves.
Rowen's Personality and Abilities
At one and a half years old, Rowen weighs approximately 35 pounds. She is a true testament to resilience and warmth:
Dog and People Friendly: Rowen gets along well with both humans and other dogs. Her social nature makes her a great companion for anyone.
Leash Skills and Playfulness: Comfortable on a leash, she enjoys walks and plays well with others.
Loves Treats and Toys: Her playful spirit shines through her love for toys and treats, making training sessions fun and rewarding.
Good Recall: Rowen's intelligence is evident in her excellent recall ability, a trait that makes her ready to learn new commands and tricks.
Health and Well-being
Rowen has been given a clean bill of health:
Vaccinated: She has received all necessary vaccinations to ensure she stays healthy.
Spayed and Microchipped: These steps have been taken to ensure her safety and prevent future health issues.
Heartworm Negative: Regular check-ups confirm that she is heartworm free.
Ready for a Forever Home
Rowen is a smart girl, eager to learn and grow in a loving home. Her journey from abandonment to hope is a testament to the resilience and warmth animals can show, even in challenging circumstances. Now, all she needs is a family to call her own. Her future is bright, and she is ready to embark on the next chapter of her life with an adoptive family who will cherish her forever.

More about this rescue

BMAR is a No-Kill facility: a place of safety for healthy adoptable animals, a home for the homeless, a haven for the mistreated, neglected, or abused animals of Sabine & surrounding counties. BMAR also runs a sanctuary for those deemed unadoptible due to medical and behavior issues.

100% Volunteer Rescue. We have no animal control, Humane Society, or SPCA operating in our area leaving animals in dire straights.

BMAR is dedicated to the prevention of cruelty & abuse to all animals & livestock.

We currently only adopt to states and Canada where we have a network in place to monitor animals and help with problems.

BMAR backs it's dogs for life and will take back no matter how long and at any time if circumstance arise and you cannot keep your pet.
