My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A FUN, BUSY & CURIOUS FELLOW:  Approx. 3 years old / Approx. 31 lbs.

Hi, my name is Hampton!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control, and I am excited to be part of the Mostly Mutts family.  They sure are taking great care of me while I wait for my new family to find me.  As much as I love the volunteers, I yearn for a family of my very own, that I can have fun with and be active with!  I spent some time in the prison/foster training program off-site and learned a lot!

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts as well as in the prison/foster training program, and liked them, but I do guard my food, so food and treats should be handled separately. / Cats unknown, but make sure food is not in play. / I met some nice kids around 10 years old at Mostly Mutts and did well with them, without any food or toys around.  Older children 15+ who understand my need for space when I am eating would be the best fit in my new home and – of course, let’s meet!

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a curious and playful guy who has a very lively personality!  As affectionate as I am handsome, I have energy to spare and a big heart to share.  I’m ready to go when I see the volunteers heading my way.  I was calm for my shelter bath, but toweling off meant playtime with the towel – lol.   So much fun energy!  Happy and friendly, I’m ready to be your loyal and active companion! / My energy level is 6-8, so let’s have lots of exciting adventures together!

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts University training program so I’ve learned the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands.  I also use proper door etiquette and have good leash manners as well as accept nice strangers without jumping.  I’ve made great progress with my trainer in the prison/foster program on my food guarding and even learned to trade a toy for a treat, but it’s still something to be mindful of — so please ask for more details.  I may show some guarding behaviors in a home setting — for example, I guarded the stairs in my temp. foster home — but my trainer will be happy to share tips to support my continued progress with guarding.  I can be playfully mouthy, and once when it was very loud and busy at the shelter, I got a bit riled up and made contact with my walker.  My trainer can show you how to help with that.  / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / My potty habits have been good on the shelter schedule as well as in a temp. foster home I visited, so hopefully that will be the case in my new home, too.

• LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love going for long hikes with the volunteers and love the car rides on the way!  I also like toys — squeaky, bouncy, fluffy, you name it, I like them.  Belly rubs?  Don’t even get me started … they’re my favorite, and I’ll flop right over to show you where to start.  I’m always ready for action, whether it’s a game of fetch, a walk, or just running off energy with you in the yard and then sitting in the shade.  Life’s a blast, and I’m here to make every moment fun! / As stated, I do NOT like anyone touching my food during mealtimes, so a bit of privacy while I’m dining, please.  ‘Party of one’.  Otherwise, I’m sure I would not be happy if I did not get enough love, attention, exercise and training.

• MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.

I am looking for a loving home where I will be a cherished member of the family!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue & Adoption's Adoption Process

Our facility is currently open to the public Monday-Saturday, 11-3. We welcome you to come meet our adoptable Mutts & Kitties! Please keep in mind the following:

Many of our adoptable Mutts & Kitties are in foster homes, so please call 770-272-6888 to find out if the pet you are interested in is at our facility. With an approved application we can set up meet & greets and adoptions with a pet in foster care.
We are not yet up to full ‘staffing’ following the pandemic, so there may be times when we cannot do meet & greets or process an application on the spot.
The best first step is to submit an application via www.mostlymutts.org.
Our adoption counselors are happy to help make a great match for you and your family!

Adoption Info:
Please submit an application through our website at www.mostlymutts.org if you are interested in one of our adoptable pets. We are receiving a large volume of applications and processing may take a little bit longer than normal. Who We Are:

Mostly Mutts is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization, staffed almost entirely by volunteers!

Our Mission is to help the Unwanted, Abandoned, Abused and Sick animals in our local counties. We fulfill this mission by working closely with County Animal Control Facilities, saving those who are in imminent danger of euthanasia, or those with needs which require specialized vet care that many other groups will not consider: major orthopedic issues, heartworm positive treatment, skin conditions, neglect and abuse
