Meet Venus: A Mighty Aphrodite with a Survivor’s Spirit
At just two years old, Venus has already lived a life worthy of legend. This striking calico beauty was discovered under a trailer near a mechanic’s shop — malnourished, terrified, and doing everything she could to protect her kittens. A tight, non-breakable plastic collar had embedded into her neck, a harsh reminder of a past that didn’t show her the kindness she deserved.
But despite it all, Venus is healing—both physically and emotionally. She’s learning, day by day, that people can be gentle and surroundings can be safe. While she’s still a little reserved when it comes to pets and kisses, she’s made it clear she knows what love looks like: she’ll happily rub up against your legs the second she hears a can of wet food crack open.
Venus is an independent soul with quiet strength. She’s not much for toys yet—survival didn’t leave room for play—but we believe with time and patience, she’ll discover how fun the world can be. For now, she enjoys peaceful naps on the piano or sofa, and stretches luxuriously on the floor after a good meal.
She’s content sharing her space with other cats and would thrive in a calm, loving home that respects her pace. While not a lap cat, Venus will reward your care and compassion with quiet companionship and the satisfaction of watching a once-wary cat bloom.
Give this feline goddess of love and beauty the second chance she so deeply deserves—she’s more than ready to find her forever sanctuary.

Additional adoption info
Our Adoption Process
We have a clear and well-structured process in place to find the best possible homes for our animals in need. This process begins with you filling out our pre-adoption questionnaire designed to collect important details and insights from potential adopters and answer any questions you may have. Once complete, we move forward by setting up a visit for you to meet our cats in person. One of our Adoption Coordinators will provide a tour of our facility and introduce you to our available cats. Our adoption coordinators have extensive knowledge of every cat and can help answer questions about individual personalities, habits, and special needs. Should you decide to choose a specific cat during this meeting, we then schedule a home visit to deliver your new pet, ensure it’s a safe and suitable environment, and provide a care kit for the new pet. To support a smooth transition, we also make a follow-up call about a week later to see how everything is going to ensure both the adopter and the cat are settling in well together.

More about this rescue
Safe Haven for Animals was founded in late 2004 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, no-kill shelter, with the mission of providing as many cats as possible with a safe and happy home, preventing untimely endings to their lives. There is no time limit on any cat's stay, ensuring that euthanasia is a last resort reserved only for those whose health conditions are irreparable. The core purpose of the organization is clear: to save the lives of cats. The joy of the shelter comes from the adoption process, where our goal is to unite each cat with a loving family, thereby enriching both the lives of the animals and the people who welcome them.
