Meet Doc, the canine companion who's practically a genius on four paws! We're pretty sure he got his name because of his incredible intelligence, which is only surpassed by his boundless love for life.

Doc's human friends constantly rave about his amazing focus and those incredibly expressive eyes that seem to understand everything. He's already mastered "sit," "stay," and "come," and he's a pro at leash manners, making him the ideal partner for all your walking and hiking adventures.

Doc is a handsome, all-American mixed breed with classic black and tan coloring who loves meeting new friends and is always ready for a game of fetch or a backyard barbecue with his family. He seems to get along with everyone!

We process your application in the order received. We'll contact you through call or email.

Visit the Facility and Find a Pet

Visit the facility via scheduled appt. and meet the the dog. If all seems like a good fit, the dog can go home on this day!

The application will come back up again during the final meet n greet, since check out and microchips rely on the same system where the applications are put in.

More about this rescue

Highland Lakes Canine Rescue was founded in 1999 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization by a group of folks who wanted to rescue homeless dogs from the Central Texas region and care for their health, rehabilitation and then to ultimately find these dogs a forever home uniting them with a newly adopted family. Initially HLCR started out as a foster only organization but over the 17 years has grown into it's own location with a kennel facility, outdoor pens, walking trails and staff and resident caretaker. An active and passionate group of staff and volunteers works tirelessly supporting HLCR and its mission.
