My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Champ was brought in by his previous owner on September 27, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Say hello to Champ! Champ may start off a little shy, but once he knows you, he becomes a social sweetheart who soaks up pets and attention. He's a master of cozy corners and couch lounging, but don't let that fool you - he can get excitable and bouncy, especially when he's happy (thankfully, he responds well to positive reinforcement training!). He also seems to be potty trained, which is always a bonus! He hasn't lived with other pets before, and honestly? He might prefer having all the couch space and attention to himself! If you already have a resident dog, a meet-and-greet is required before he goes home. This handsome guy is dreaming of a home, without young kids, where he can be pampered, spoiled with comfy beds, tasty treats, and all the time he needs to settle in at his own pace. Come meet Champ - he's packed his bags (mostly snacks) and is ready to take over your couch!"

At SDHS:
Champ has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. He is now ready for his new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
